No. Lumo Loans is a free enquiry and referral service. We match South Africans with registered credit providers — we don't lend money, approve loans, or set interest rates ourselves.

No. Our free eligibility check doesn't run a credit search on you. Only if you continue with a matched credit provider will they run their own credit check as part of their formal application process.

How quickly can I get a loan?

The enquiry itself takes about two minutes. If you're matched, most providers on our panel aim to make contact the same day during business hours. Payout, if approved, depends on the provider — sometimes same day, usually within one to two business days.

Can I get a loan with bad credit?

Sometimes. Some credit providers on our panel work with weaker credit profiles. It's never guaranteed — see our bad credit loans page for the honest expectations.

Can I get a loan if I already have debt?

Possibly, as long as you can still afford the new repayments alongside your existing debt. Every credit provider must run an affordability assessment under the National Credit Act.

Most credit providers can't legally issue you new credit while you're under debt review. If that's your situation, please speak to your debt counsellor first.
