Last updated: 2026. This policy explains what personal information Lumo Loans collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who we are
Lumo Loans is a South African loan enquiry and referral service. We are the responsible party (data controller) for the personal information you share with us on this site.
What we collect
- Your name and WhatsApp number
- Answers you give in the enquiry form: employment status and type, employment duration, income range, existing debt, debt review status, requested loan amount and purpose, preferred contact time, and (if you provide it) your South African ID number
- Consent choices and timestamps
- Basic technical information about how you arrived at the site: referring URL and any campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term)
Why we collect it
Only to check which of our registered lending partners may be a fit for you, and — with your consent — to introduce you to them. We also use aggregated technical information to understand which of our channels work.
Who we share it with
Only registered credit providers or brokers who could realistically help with your enquiry, and only where you have consented to that sharing. We do not sell your data. We do not share it with unrelated third parties or advertisers.
How long we keep it
For as long as we reasonably need to help with your enquiry and to meet our record-keeping obligations under South African law. You can ask us to delete your personal information at any time.
How we protect it
Personal information is stored securely and access is limited to authorised staff and matched providers. Transmission of your data to our servers is protected by TLS (HTTPS).

- The right to know what we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate information
- The right to have your information deleted (subject to legal record-keeping)
- The right to withdraw consent at any time
- The right to object to further processing
- The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa
